FAQ
Whether your first time, or returning to therapy, every therapist works a little differently. My hope is this helps to answer some of your questions about how I practice to help you make the best decision for yourself.
Is this confidential?
Yes, what you share with me in the context of therapy will be kept confidential and private. I will make every effort to keep your information safe and nothing can be shared without your written consent; however, there are some exceptions required by law:
1. If I suspect a child (person under 18yo) is being harmed, or I suspect dependent adult/ elder abuse
2. If a client is threatening serious physical harm to another person
3. If a client is reporting a serious intention to harm themself, I will make every effort to create a safety plan; however, this may necessitate additional safety measures beyond the bounds of confidentiality.
What is a first session like?
Because finding a therapist needs to be a good fit for you, I offer an initial 30 minute phone consultation without fee. During your initial visit, I aim to create a safe, supportive, and affirming environment, where you can feel empowered to share your experiences, concerns, and goals for our time together. We'll work collaboratively to set your priorities, and create a plan.
How long are sessions? How often do we meet?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and may be longer if including family members (chosen or otherwise). We are able to meet weekly, or once every other week, depending on your needs and the goals we discuss during our initial session together.
What are your rates? Do you accept insurance?
Because speaking about money can feel difficult, I prefer to discuss rates in person. However, my full rate is $210/ session, and I work on a sliding fee scale, scaling rates to clients' financial ability including a number of financial considerations.
Fee is due at time of appointment, and is charged through my private practice software, Stripe.

I accept Aetna insurance plans, and am happy to review your insurance information. I offer out of network (OON) billing to support with reimbursement (sometimes called a super bill)
What is your cancellation policy?
Clients are seen by appointment only. I require 48 hours notice for cancellation. Less than 48 hours, clients will be charged the full cost of the appointment. I will make every effort to reschedule an appointment cancelled 48 hours in advance.
